Qepe writes the DST your Ricoma reads, or a DSB, sized for Ricoma’s hoops A to D and the fields Ricoma publishes, and checks the design against the artwork before it reads the file back and saves it. It runs on a Mac or a Windows PC, for €149 a year with every tool.

Set Qepe up for your Ricoma

  1. Choose Ricoma

    Click the machine chip in the top bar and pick Ricoma. From then on Qepe writes DST, counts 10 needles and offers the hoops above.

  2. Match the trims

    Under Trim, set the number of jump codes your machine cuts at, 3 until you change it. Qepe writes every trim that way, and the export says what to set.

  3. Let Qepe pick the hoop

    With no hoop chosen, Qepe picks the smallest that takes the design, or offers a 90° turn. A design larger than every hoop is split into hoopings, each its own file.

  4. Export DST

    Qepe writes the file, reads it back and compares every needle point with the screen. A file that doesn’t match is never saved.

  • Set the trim once: the number of jump codes the machine cuts at, under Trim in Qepe (3 until you change it).
Do I need Chroma for my Ricoma?
No. A Ricoma reads DST, which Qepe writes with every tool in one licence, €149 a year. Chroma’s design analysis, appliqué and magic wand come only with Luxe, US$2,499 for the first year, as Chroma’s pricing page showed on 21 October 2026.
